Wound is all healed. Jan 17, 2017. Week 12 Day 78

All of my wounds are all healed.  I have been in Florida visiting my daughter and I have not been able to post.  It is nice to not have the twice a day routine to care for my wounds.   I have an appt. today to be released for work.  It will be nice to get back to work.  I have missed it.  I find out today when I get my 3D tattoos and when exactly stage 2 will take place.  I will post pictures tonight.

I am released to go back to work or at least take my physical and lift the required 55 lbs in order to go back to work.  So excited.  I do not think that I will be a good retired person.  I did not like staying at home.  I missed working.  Maybe being healthy and able to do things when I retire will make it better.  Well I have 5 more years to think about retiring so things could change.  Dr Habash would still like to do a stage 2 revision this summer.  I will point out on one of the photos below the things he would like to do to make the new girls look better, my stomach also.

I get my 3D tattoos on Feb 15 and I am looking forward to it so they will actually look like breasts.  The feel of them is unbelievable.  I can not tell the difference at all between the original and the new ones.  Of course the new ones are smaller and with the stage 2 revision they will be smaller on the sides also.  My stomach will be lipo-suctioned so my stomach will be more uniform.  My small FUPA will also be gone.  I wish I had known about this gene years ago and I would have had this done at a younger age.

So excited to be heading to the last leg of this journey.  It has all been worth it, even the wound care.  I think about the wound and why it happened.  I hope because I have blogged about it, other people going through it can realize that it is only a temporary set back on the road to recovery.

I am posting the wound care photos at the end, in the date order from my last post, to show the progress of healing.

I will not be posting until the day before the tattoos, Feb. 15, 2017,  There should not be any changes between now and then.

Have a great day and if there are any comments please post them.

The 2nd stage procedure on my breasts will be the removal of the side fat on both breasts and a small uplift on both, which will remove the scar from the wounds and also make them more rounded.

Below are the wound pictures from Jan 6 to Jan 17. There are quite a few, but I wanted to show the actual healing process.

Jan. 4, 2017 Week 10 Day 65

It is hard to believe that I am 10 weeks post surgery.  The time has just flown by.  I will be released to go back to work on Jan. 18th.  I have to pass a physical in order to go back and one of the requirements is being able to lift 55 lbs.  I am looking forward to going back to work.

My top wound is getting smaller and I think that by the time I have the nipple tattoos the wound will be completely healed.  That should be around the 20th or so of Jan.  Hopefully it will not change my return to work date.

I am posting pictures of all of the surgery scars and the slow to heal wound today.

Looking better.  Stage 2 should remove the sides of the breasts and lift them up some, and remove the fat from the left side of the tummy, (pic side).

Jan 1, 2016. Week 9 Day 62

Just a short note to say Happy New Year.  We have been gone for a week with slow internet so I have not been able to post anything.  I will add to this post tonight and have a picture of the closed bottom wound.  So excited about that. I regained some feeling on my right breast so the upper wound actually hurts some after I clean and re-cover it.  I hope the upper one will close as fast as the lower one did using the aloe and silver cream.  The pictures below will show the past 9 days of closure of the bottom wound.

Thank you everyone who has been following this blog or just checking every so often.

Dec. 21, 2016. Week 8 Day 51

Christmas is getting close and so excited.  This was the time last year when I had my blood test for the PALB2 gene.  I did not get the results until Jan. 3, 2016.  So during Christmas I was thinking about the results and what it would mean to me and my family.  Little did I know that I would find 2 of the best Doctors and have the results that I have.  I am so pleased with my surgery and the results.  And according to Dr. Habash the Stage 2 results will be even better.

On the subject that seems to be taking up most of my posts, my wounds.  In the pictures below you will be able to see just how much it has improved.  I really believe between the zinc I started taking and using the Aloe with the Silver cream has made such a difference.  I am posting a pic from Dec. 12 and one from today and in 9 days the difference is amazing.

Improvement and setback. Dec. 20,2016. Week 8 Day 50

My big wound is now the smaller of the two wounds.  Both are healing nicely but now there is a small hole underneath the bottom wound.  I think it might be a stitch that has not dissolved.  If not better in a few days then I will call Dr. Habash and see what he says.

I actually slept on my tummy for about two hours last night.  Felt good but the stretching on my tummy was very tight so I will be working on stretching my tummy.  Never thought that it would be my tummy that made it hard to sleep that way.  The new girls were fine with it.

Getting ready for Christmas and all of the Family coming into town.  I just love Christmas and Family.  It makes everything I have been through even more special knowing that I now have removed the parts that were giving me so much stress.  At least I do not have to worry so much about getting cancer now.

Wound improvement. Dec 17, 2016. Week 7 Day 47

I am going to post below yesterday’s wound picture and tonights.  I see a great improvement.   Excited.  Hopefully the top wound will get the hint and get rolling on improvement also.  It dropped from a high of 71 today to 23 right now.  No more T Shirts for this woman.

I haven’t talked about range of motion.  I have been working on my arms and now I can reach up and back about 4 inches.  Much improvement there also.  That is the most restriction I have in my shoulder arm movement.  I have no problem laying flat and even arching my back some.  The tummy incision is tight but stretches.  I have about 6 inches in the center of the incision that I can still feel bumps and knots.  I have been massaging it every night and it seems to help it.

The only soreness I have in my breasts is at the sides.  The swelling has not gone down much and it is very tender.  No pain otherwise in my breasts.  I do get a sharp pain every once in awhile, which I understand to be nerves connecting back.  As for the lack of feeling in my breast I am glad since I have that wound.  It if hurt it would be harder to take this slow healing.

Well off to sleep.

Looks better.  The marks on the right are from the non stick pad and the pressure of my bra.  You can see from the outside red circle how big the wound actually was to start.

Slow wound healing. Dec 15, 2016. Week 7 Day 45

Not much to say today.  Just slowing moving along on the wound and finding ways to make the compression feel better against my body.  If the swelling would go down I would be able to get some relief from the 24 hr bra.

Dr. visit. Dec 14, 2016. Week 7 Day 44

It is hard to believe that I am starting week 7.   I saw Dr. Habash this morning and he said everything looked good and my wound is healing.  Slower than he would like but still progressing.  He is a perfectionist and is already talking about stage 2 and how he is going to make my new girls even better.  I like them now and I am sure I will like them even more when he is finished.

I have a FUPA (fat under pubic area), I know I laughed when he said that is what it is.  He will use that fat to contour my breasts during Stage 2 reconstruction.  I had to look it up when I got home.  That is exactly what it is called.  So funny.  I really like Dr. Habash.  Very good at his profession and I am pleased that he wants my new girls to be perfect.  He is going to do the areola tattooing in Jan and Stage 2 about 3 months after that.  Letting my wound completely heal and be stable for another procedure.

I did a little more research on wound care and at lot of Dr’s recommend Aloe on wounds so I mixed Aloe with my other cream and we will see if it helps it.

10pm.  My wound already looks better since this morning.  I do not know if it is the Aloe or the removed stitch.  Maybe both.

I am posting the wound pictures so people can see that they do heal and to please have patience with the healing process.  Most people do not get wounds like this.  I just happen to be one of the “Lucky” ones.   Have a good night.

Pictures from the morning and evening are below.  Hopefully one day soon the pictures will not be so graphic.

One is healed. Dec 11, 2016. Week 6 Day 41

Exciting news.  My right breast wound is all healed.  Something small to celebrate.  Now I will think positive thoughts for my left side.  It is healing, but at such a slow rate.  I have looked on the internet at breast wounds from reduction surgeries and mine is no where as bad as a lot of other ones.  So I guess when you are old all things move slowly.  Such is life.  At least there is no infection or pain.  I have been working all day on some Christmas homemade projects and boy can I tell.  My tummy is a little sore but not too bad.

I can not hardly believe that it will be week 7 soon.  Time really does fly by fast.  I am so pleased with how my new girls look and feel.  The scars are almost smooth, (except for the wound on the right) but even that will eventually be smooth.  Happy thoughts everyone.

Pictures below.  No close up wound ones today.
