I can hardly believe it was 4 weeks ago that I had surgery. Tomorrow will start Week 5. I am on my own this week so hopefully I have the stamina to do this. It is a cold wet day outside so I will be inside all day. I took everyone to the airport this morning and an now getting ready to divide and wrap Christmas presents. I just love the holidays.
We have been busy the past 2 days and I can feel it. I always start the day with such energy and by the end I am exhausted. My daughter and grandson leave tomorrow. I will miss them both so much. It was hard not being able to pick him up, but he weighs 35 lbs and my limit is 10 lbs. Hopefully when I see him in Dec. I will be able to pick him up.
I just love the holidays, family means so much to me and we were able to see almost all of my family, Brothers, sisters, niece’s and nephews, and my children. Life is so wonderful.
I will be starting to walk on the treadmill again tomorrow and really trying to get all of my strength back.
As for recovery, I am doing great. I still have no real pain and even though I have a lot of swelling in my new breasts they are still a lot smaller than the old ones. I am so pleased with the results. Except for the wound and the care that goes into taking care of it, I have no complaints at all about the surgery. It was such a great decision for me to have this surgery and I do hope that this blog does help someone else trying to make this decision. The thought of getting cancer does not even cross my mind anymore, which is such a relief.
I am posting quite a few pictures of my healing this time and the wound does look bad but compared to how it has looked there is improvement. Have a good evening everyone.
Well as I sit here and still feeling so full from all of the eating I have been doing. I have gained 4 lbs and it feels like 10 lbs. I actually feel it most in my new breasts. They are more tight than usual. Not much pain, just the irritation on the upper skin is worse when they are fuller. Starting Monday I will be back on my diet to loose the extra 15 lbs that I am carrying and hopefully it will also shrink my breasts some also. I know I will feel better for sure.
My left breast is still fighting the wound and I am sure it will be at least a month more before it is healed. I keep posting pictures and it does look bad, but I can see more of the dead tissue coming off and bright red where it use to be. I will continue to treat it twice a day and believe that it will get better. I am thankful that I do not have feeling in that area. I am sure if I did it would really hurt.
I am slowly getting my strength and range of motion. I can now raise my arms completely over my head with minimal stretching of my new girls. It is nice to be able to move more. My tummy only pulls now when I have been sitting down for awhile.
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and I will write again.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I had a wonderful day. We went out to eat since there were only 4 of us. This is the odd year where my family spends this holiday with their in-laws. We did a lot of walking around Ft Worth Sundance Square and had a wonderful lunch downtown. Then home to watch the Cowboy Game. A very relaxing day. I hope that everyone’s holiday was wonderful.
I had a nice day visiting family and seeing my son who lives out of town. It is getting easier to travel and walk around. I am no longer taking any type of nap and I am able to sleep much better now without a pillow under my knees. Recovery is slow but moving along.
Well it is the start of Week 4. I have been doing arm stretching exercises daily and it is helping. I am now sleeping with just 2 pillows under my head and 1 under my knees. I was able to take a short rest laying on my right side also with no discomfort. I can now see the time when I will be able to sleep on my tummy. Maybe within a few weeks.
My tummy scar is really itching now. Soon all of the scabs will be gone and I can start really massaging it to help with the scar. I do gentle rubs now. My right breast is really looking good. My left breast is still under wound care but the yellowish dead skin is being replaced with fresh raw skin that will now heal. The incisions are still holding and doing good. It is just the actual skin underneath the breast.
Well we are off to the production of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Have a good night everyone.
Pictures are below and show all angles of my procedure.
